When the baby is crying her head off, it's a real downer, but fortunately there are a few tricks you can try and chill out the baby. One common technique is driving the baby around in a car. The vibrations and humming noise sooth them by apparently mimicking the sounds in utero. A favorite technique of ours works basically the same way, but it saves some gas and as a bonus gets laundry done at the same time. The trick is to put the baby in the car seat, and put the car seat on top of the ironing machine (or as Gail likes to call it - the "dryer").
